Rockamovya - Warrior Sound

The three founding members of Groundation (Harrison Stafford, Marcus Urani and Ryan Newman) join forces with the legendary Jamaican drummer Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace (who worked with numerous reggae artists including The Gladiators, Inner Circle, Prince Far I, Sound Dimension, Burning Spear and Ijahman Levi.) and the grammy nominated Jazz guitarist Will Bernard (has played with many musicians including Jai Uttal and the Pagan Love Orchestra, The Coup, Robert Walter's 20th Congress, MG5 (formerly Frequinox), Idris Muhammad, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Zigaboo Modeliste, Groundation and the Stanton Moore Trio.) to form Rockamovya. The name comes from Leroy Horsemouth Wallace, Jamaican patios style and is meant to show the unity and power of the music.

The sound is fresh and little different from the Groundation works, but it remains deeply rooted in Reggae and Jamaican popular music with influences of Soul and Jazz. Harrisons voice is still very powerful, so you can feel the Groundation rhythms. This is a record i can recommend to all fans of Groundation.

IAMX - Spit it out

IAMX is the solo musical project of Chris Corner. IAMX is more electronic than Sneaker Pimps, triphop style is no longer, still you can hear that Corner is behind the mic. Yesterday IAMX visit Debaser/Stockholm Sweden for a gig.
To be honest, this is the first time that i heard IAMX. The guys and the crew was really nice, lay´d back and didn't hurry or had that typical on tour stress, but when all the gear was in and it got time for building the stage, then i got a bit suspicious a golden trojan horse entered the stage, it wasn't the big one as in the Troja Movie, it was a small saddle horse.
Well the gig was not bad at all, even if I'm not to fancy about Electronica.
Corner has a good voice and hell of a stage attitude, he is a star indeed.
The other guys did very well, Tom smashed the drums skins heavily, Janine shanked
as she was in a rockband and so did Dean.

Was out for some drum shopping at Hellstone with Tom (Drummer) and yes he found what he was looking for.
Todays tune is Spit It Out from the album "The Alternative"
Enjoy

Sneaker Pimps - Post Modern Sleaze

Sneaker Pimps are a British Trip-hop band formed in Hartlepool, England in 1995(Wikipedia) and IAMX website (1989). Sneaker Pimps are best known for their first album Becoming X (1996). They took their name from an article the Beastie Boys published in their Grand Royal magazine about a man they hired to track down classic sneakers.

The band's founding members were Chris Corner and Liam Howe (both ex-DJs), who then recruited Kelli Dayton (formerly of Lumieres, now recording under the name Kelli Ali) for vocal duties. But when they started to work with thier second album, on which Corner provided the guide vocals was better suited his voice, especially in regard to the more raw, personal quality of the lyrics. Corner became the singer and
Dayton was asked to leave the group.

Atm Corner is out with his Solo thing (IAMX) more of that tomorrow.
Todays tune is an old tune from thier Becoming X and with Dayton on vocal.

Mercyful Fate - Nightmare Be Thy Name

Was over to my neighbor and Mr Stones searched in his shelf of cd´s and he playd this song, never heard them b4 but they were pretty awesome.

All painted in his face, looks like Kiss sorta....

Its a Danish metal band, they begun in 1980 in Copenhagen.
They have done 7 studio albums from 1983 to 1999, they did a
compilation album in 2003.

The singer name is King Diamond...wonder what his real name is?
They kept on playing to the end of 1985 then they reshaped a bit and had a reunion
in 1992 and did an album 1993 and in a March, 2008 interview, King Diamond stated that Mercyful Fate is currently "hibernating", but had never split up.

This tune comes from the album "Time" witch they did 1994.

Enjoy and Head bang with me :)

Thin Lizzy - Dedication

Thin Lizzy, the Irish hard rock band got into my mind again. Was listening to "Dedication: The Very Best of Thin Lizzy"

The only previously unreleased track from that record was "Dedication", which was reconstructed after Phil Lynott's death using an old 8 track demo recording of the song (originally recorded around 1981) to provide the bass and vocal lines, with new guitar and drum parts added by Scott Gorham and Brian Downey.

Enjoy!

Deportees - Damaged Goods

Deportees is a Swedish band from Vindeln/Umeå that consists of Peder Stenberg (Vocal), Anders Stenberg (gitarr), Thomas Hedlund (Trummor) and Mattias Lidström (keyboard). The Band started in 2003 when the members rented a studio to record a few songs that they had prepared for, including the debutesingle "Arrest Me 'til it Hurts" – a peculiar tune with influences of pop, funk, country and some Prince.

After a year of touring in Sweden and a visit to USA, they begun a co-work with the producers Pelle Gunnerfeldt and Björn Yttling.
And in spring 2006 did a new single see the light "Damaged Goods" a little more darker, but still as peculiar as the first album.

After the bands 2:nd album release they toured in Sweden, United Kingdom and Irland with the french act Phoenix.

The Band just released a new single "Under the Pavement - The beach" and a album .

Today's tune is Damaged Goods from thier 2:nd album.

Beyoncé Gisele Knowles (born September 4, 1981), best known mononymously as Beyoncé.
Is an American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer and actress.
Knowles rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the girl group Destiny's Child. Knowles released her début solo album, Dangerously in Love, in June 2003. Beyoncé is her European tour ATM, yesterday she visit Stockholm/Globe to give a show.
And whoosh, what a show, amazing. I'm not into this style of music at all but i must say that this girl can sing, oh yes she can sing.
The production was big, same size as Metallica is travelling with, a few more buses on the Knowles side :)
The stage set was like a glittering palace with loads of Acrylic Blocks, looked really nice. The band was all girls and yes they played great, tight and well played.
I really liked the guitar player Bibi McGill, she was the one that you will notice.
Great player. Well it was a perfect show for the fans, everything was done in perfectly, well rehearsed.

Girugamesh - Break Down

Girugamesh (ギルガメッシュ) also know as Girugämesh, is a Japanese metal band, formed in 2003.
The name is derived from the ancient king Gilgamesh.
Girugamesh are Satoshi (迅左 ?) on vocals and lyricist, Nii (弐 ?) on guitar, Shuu (愁) on bass guitar and Яyo on drums and is the primary songwriter. They have released 3 albums sofar, "13's Reborn" (2006), "Girugamesh" (2007) and "Music" (2008).
Last Sunday Girugamesh visit Sweden/Klubben on their Crazy Tour 09' and give a screaming audience a hell of a show. Its kinda cool a this type of music has fans so dedicated that they put up tents 3-4 days before the show, just to get the first spots to enter.
This time it was great, the opening act had call in sick so only the main band was able to perform witch in other hand gave us the opportunity to do more detail work and a better chance to know the guys, witch helps when the gig is over.
I also got a song for taking pictures with my newly bought system camera, but im still on the novice level to be able to make any decent picture, but i got some, also took some with my pocket camera as i usually do, got two snapshots for you guys.

First is a shot on Яyo's drums, notice the small teddy bears hanging on the set :)
They had loads of it that fans throws up on stage.

Second picture is a shoot from the last tune of the evening.

Well back on track, todays tune is Break Down from the latest album "Music"
Enjoy.

Joe Bonamassa - Ballad of John Henry

One more day of Mr Joe Bonamassa, as Thetania wrote it was great evening at Berns/Stockholm.
This was the first time that i was able to see him live, got a few records with him that i do like.
Oh boy this was a great one, beat the time with my foot the whole show and thats is kinda rearly these days as you get kinda
jaded during the years with shows every second day. Some of the tunes really hit my soul and i really like that he plays with the tunes and has one finger in every style, but the style he masters the best is the blues witch i believe if he continue will be a real master at as he really can handle the guitar already.

As for yesterdays tune Joe's dream really came thru when he got the chance to play with one of his heroes "Eric Clapton"
That most be part of the best day of his life.

Got a few snap shoots from the evening.
The first one is when he having fun with a flying v and playing some harder stuff.

Second one was a amazing part of the show when he took his acoustic and showed that he really mastered a piece of wood.

Todays tune is a studio footage for the song "Ballad of John Henry" from the 2009 CD of the same name. If you can, the video was made to be seen in HD for both video and sound.

John Henry is an American folk hero, famous for having raced against a steam powered hammer and won, only to die in victory with his hammer in his hand. He has been the subject of numerous songs, stories, plays, and novels.

Joe Bonamassa & Eric Clapton - Further On Up The Road

Joe Bonamassa was here in Stockholm yesterday.

He gave us both real blues and real Hard rock, He dropped some weight since last time he was here in Debaser Stockholm, that concert wasent that much hard rock that he gave us this time. His new album is full of it, totally my taste to be honest but i love his blues as well, its called "The Ballad of John Henry".

He had a accustic part as well man he smacked Al Dimeola on his fingers but just a bit. Both flamenco style and hm..everything in one :)

Joe picked up a wing gitarr and started to play real hard rock in the song "just got paid", he showd the devils fingers and started his marvelous gitarr playing, gotta show u some, i thing we will have some pictures ready for tomorrow and ill talk with my parter to show the video with this song.

Ah yeah in the video im showing to u today is from 4th May 2009, Royal Albert Hall, he had a guest Eric Clapton Joe said it was awesome to play with him Eric is one of his biggest influence, and that he had his 32 birthday at the 8th of may.
So Congrats to u mr Bonamassa.

His base player was real good didnt get his name though..

Enjoy this Rockn & Roll people

Träd, Gräs och Stenar - Sommarlåten

Träd, Gräs & Stenar ("Trees, Grass and Stones") is a Swedish rock band formed in 1969. The group was one of the front acts of the Swedish progg scene, although noticeably less political than their contemporary counterparts.

Just in time for Trad Gras och Stenar 40th-anniversary the Swedish psychedelic trance-rock pioneers releases a new album - Homeless Cats. The first one in seven years and the seventh since the singing start in 1969. Eleven new boundless tracks with organic music for open minds.
The records are produced by Gåshud in cooperation with Subliminal Sounds

Back in 1967 the guitarist Bo Anders Persson had already started his Terry Riley-inspired underground band Parson Sound with the bass player Torbjorn Abelli and drummer Thomas Mera Gartz, amongst others. They evolved into International Harvester, then Harvester, and finally striking root as Trad Gras och Stenar in 1969. The following year they arranged, end performed at, the legendary Swedish Gardes-festivals that pioneered the Swedish alternative music movement.

Trad Gras och Stenar celebrated thier 40th-anniversary and the new release of Homeless Cats at The Strand, Stockholm yesterday. Lisa & Piu was the opening act and did well.
Tgs delivered a great show and i got a chance to see the new guitarist Reine Fiske (Dungen) that took over after Bo Anders left and yes he was there as well, sitting in the bar watching his old team mates playing some great music.
I also bought the new album "Homeless Cats" and i do like it, they included the nice cover of "Punkrocker" that you can listen on here.
Other songs that i really liked on the new album is Sommardisco and Svärmors brudpolska.
Those tunes really show who still is kings of the proggs :)

Jackson Browne - These Days

Clyde Jackson Browne (born October 9, 1948) is an American rock singer-songwriter and musician. In 2004, Browne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by fellow American musical artist and good friend, Bruce Springsteen. On Monday the 4th he played at Circus/Stockholm Sweden. It was a great show indeed, it was divided in 2 set with a little break in between. The songs covered most of his musical carrier with most of the big tunes.
He had his hole band with him on this tour and the set was pretty nice as you can see on the shot i got.

Here is a classic accoustic tune with Jackson Browne.
"These Days" is a song written by Jackson Browne. Principally recorded by Nico, Gregg Allman, and Browne himself in three different musical worlds, it has lasted for decades as a classic of morose introspection made even more remarkable by Browne having been only 16 years old when he wrote it
