Damien Rice - The Blower's Daughter

It may seem simple to summarize and describe an artist who only released two full studio albums, but Damien Rice despite his productivity on the album front, a career that goes beyond Popaganda. He debuted in 2002 with "O" and it is as difficult today as when appointing a favorite, as each piece is its own masterpiece.

The powerful but low-key songs have not the least attention in Hollywood and Damien's IMDB page contains more titles than many actors. So even if you do not yet know much about his music, you have guaranteed heard "Cannonball", "9 Crimes", "Volcano", "Delicate" or "Coldwater" in any film or television series. Before the big breakthrough with "O" earned his living as a street musician around Europe.

In recent years it has been pretty quiet about Damien Rice and he only has toured sparingly. This has mainly been about Rice's personal activities include musical contributions to charitable projects such as the Songs for Tibet, Freedom Campaign and the Enough Project. So it was with great gratifying to be able to see him in Stockholm for the first time in five years.

Damien Rice was in a great form alone with his guitar and piano, will be on Popagandas scene. And what a lovely guy this was, incredibly sympathetic and shared more than happy his visons and future plans, he also said that he was writing a new album, this would be a more stripped-down album but with some trace of violins, which sounded incredibly exciting. He also did a song completely acoustic, without any help of out sound (PA) which was pretty cool, which you got some real goosebumps. During this song, I was stung by wasp in the neck, which was not so fun, hurt like hell, but with the good doctor on site was the problem was solved quickly and I was on my feet again after one quarter.

Todays tune "The Blower's Daughter" is taken from the first studio album "O", originally released on 1 February 2002, in Ireland and in the United Kingdom. The album is dedicated to Rice's friend Mic Christopher, who died of a head injury in 2001.
