Carcass - This Mortal Coil

Tuesday, feel I need some speed in the house today, so we roll on further on yesterday's post.

The choice of Carcass is made of "Chief Rebel" as "thanks for the tip," where R2 tipped him about this band and it will be a bit associated with that particular phenomenon of "Metal Night" which we wrote about yesterday.

Carcass are a British extreme metal band from Liverpool, who formed in 1985 and disbanded in 1995. A reunion was enacted in 2007 without one of its original members, drummer Ken Owen, due to health reasons.

Although widely regarded as pioneers of the grindcore genre, their early work was also tagged as splatter death metal, hardgore, and goregrind on account of their morbid lyrics and gruesome album covers. However, they also became one of the pioneers in the subgenre known as melodic death metal with their 1993 album Heartwork.

In 2012, Michael Amott left the band after the recording of the album before founding Spiritual Beggars, and was temporarily replaced by Mike Hickey. In The Pathologist's Report, Bill Steer says Heartwork is his favourite Carcass album.

Carcass is scheduled to play at the Chilean music festival Metalfest in April 2013 and the Maryland Deathfest XI music festival in May 2013.

Carcass are working on a new album, which is due for release in early 2013. In a recent interview, Walker announced Daniel Wilding of Bristol-based deathgrind band Trigger the Bloodshed would be performing drums on the new album.

Todays tune "This Mortal Coil" is taken from the fourth album "Heartwork", released in 1993. The album was recorded at Parr Street Studios, Liverpool between May 18 and June 21, 1993. The clip is from Carcass Reunion Show at Belgium's Graspop Metal Meeting 2010.

Bonus: The Black Dahlia Murder - This Mortal Coil(Carcass Cover)

The sculpture depicted in the cover art, "Life Support 1993", was designed by H.R. Giger, and is in fact an update of a sculpture he created in the late 1960s. The video for the song "Heartwork" features a real-life interpretation of the sculpture, including a human welded as a part of it.

Verkligen bisvärms riff, mycket bra låt från en platta som jag faktiskt saknar i samlingen. Men inte helt lätt att hitta denna på Vinyl idag.
